God's Grace
In 1998, my daughter, sister and I went for a bike ride. None of us were wearing helmets. The brakes broke on my bicycle throwing me over the handlebars. My head struck the pavement causing severe head trauma. I was rushed to a local hospital and then air lifted to Duke. I had emergency surgery due to a blood clot on my brain. The doctors informed my family that they didn't think I would survive.
People started praying for me in my community. I pulled through but my injuries forced me to retire from both of my jobs. I have severe headaches and tire easily.
One day, I bought an easel and canvas and started to paint. I have never had any art classes in my life. God reached down and gave me the talent to paint. I enjoy painting so much and I thank Him every day for this gift that He has blessed me with.
After 911, I felt led to send one of my paintings to President Bush and his wife, Laura. The painting was a picture of Christ rescuing a lost sheep. The Bushes accepted the painting and it is now hanging in the White House. I felt very honored and humble to know they cared enough to accept it.
I want to witness for Christ and give Him thanks for helping me overcome the obstacles in my life. I still need everyone's prayers and would appreciate them so much.
